Kenneth Cole leather tote - retailing at $328

- Sang A large alligator tote – retailing at $15,632
Ok, I know that this blog is obviously about not paying full price and getting a great deal, but something struck me seriously wrong over the weekend, particularly given the interesting economic times that most of the country seems to be in, while apparently others are definitely not.
Browsing through one of my favorite fashion mags, InStyle, I ran across an article on bags for a cause. It’s great that they are giving a portion of the sales to charity (I am a big proponent of cause-related marketing for my clients, in fact) but when the purses retail from anywhere from $700 to $3,500 and beyond, that’s insane.
So I did a little research on the Sang A line (which, according to quick research online, some purse fanatics LOVE) and found a lovely black alligator tote for no less than $15,632.
Personally, I’m so hard on my bags and shoes that I would never pay even $300 for one. I currently have a great black leather work tote from Coach that I have had for 4 years and paid around $150. Way to go, Coach, for making a bag that lasts.
All this in mind, I found a similar version for much much less from Kenneth Cole, and wanted to share. I know that I would feel much more comfortable carrying this around everyday, and wouldn’t be devastated if it was damaged.
It’s not alligator but who wants to carry around reptile anyway?
